Stainless 700 donor action: $550 Aftermarket fluted barrel blank: $475 Barrel install and action true: $450 or so (LRI) Timney Trigger: $150 McMillan Edge: $600 Skim Bed: $150
That puts a guy at the same price as that Custom Shop rifle, but with a top-end barrel, a trued action, a better trigger, and a better stock in your choice of pattern, LOP, and color. Just saying..... Here's one for $1900.00 but you make a valid point.

The last 2 SS SPS tubes I pulled and sold shot as good as you could hope for in a custom application. Me thinks way better mouse traps.... Jewel and Mcm. Your in for $1500... Under 6#. Under an inch with a trigger. Hard to beat....
