the Hispanic Americans out there are just pick-up truck drivin', cowbow boot wearin', cold beer drinkin' folks like all the rest of the people out there.

,...been that way for a long, long time.

And they are, I live with them. Good people.

Plus one.
They didn't come here to remain mexicans.
They came here to become Americans.

And just like yours and my ancestors they accomplished exactly that.

Legally.

Worked their asses off too to do it.

Leaving an old homeland to become something new and better means LEAVING THE HOMELAND TO BECOME SOMETHING NEW AND BETTER!

That's true enough, but what many people in the east don't realize is, *Lots* of the families of the Hispanic Americans in the southwest were living there before the southwest became part of the country.

,...and they had been there for generations before that.

Those Spaniards started wandering around out there a long time ago.

They're not immigrants by any reasonable definition.

well from my perspective they just might be. but I agree with you they have as much in common with the current "immigrants" as I do with Obummer.
most of those old Hispanic families were from Spain and not of the Mexican heritage.
being "Indian" I may have more blood ties to the Mexican that the Hispanic American.

Trump is an enigma and right now in politics, that is a good thing.

That's a fact, and they chose America over Mexico a long time ago. Don't get me wrong, they still bust piñatas and make tamales, but they are AMERICAN...through and through. Take a look at your USMC if you don't believe that.

Lots of our deeds go back to Spanish Land Grants.

It confuses private pilots when they fly over parts our area. The fence lines don't run due North and South when they are also property lines. Something about the Spanish surveyors and their way of laying out the grant boundaries.

We have a LOT of American Mexicans around here.

But more of the illegal variety.

I've never met a Mexican that was not very conservative politically. I've never met one that was an Obama supporter.

I've never met a deer hunter from Wisconsin, Minnesoduh, or Illinois that wasn't very conservative politically.

Guess who they vote for 10 times out of 10.
