Today I finally got around to redoing jwp475’s test (found here ), but using my Glock 30 SF instead of a 1911. The round chronographs right at 925 fps muzzle velocity out of my Glock. The test results were basically the same as jwp’s results. The round exited all 10 water jugs. After about the 5th jug, however, the round started upward to the point where it was not going through the widest part of the jug. So, it was grabbing air between jugs 6-10. Here is the target array, then a video, then some pictures of the entrance and exit of jug 10.

They could be used in a pinch if a fella didn't have his .45 Colt with him! Thanks for the post!

Wow, you stayed centered on jug #10...........no small trick.

That's impressive velocity from the short G30.

If Glocks will gobble up that 255 HCFP I might should consider loading some up. I'd be plenty happy at 100fps slower in my G21.

I tried to pay attention and do it right, but I am sure there was some luck in there.

I think the .45 round was losing steam as it exited the 10th jug. It entered so squarely and it looks like it dribbled out. I looked for it but the area had too much gravel. I suspect that I could have reloaded it had it stopped in the jug. I should consider making a contraption like RJM.

That is the gun I will be wearing during bow season. There are no grizzlies where I hunt.

Thanks for posting your test results.

I have kept my eye on this load ever since jwp475 posted his findings some years ago. I also have a Glock 30 and have just a few questions:

Does the BB loading shoot to roughly the same point of aim as regular 45 ACP ammo?

Are you running a stock barrel?

How has the reliability been?

Thanks in advance!

I have stock and aftermarket barrels. They chronograph within a few feet of each other with this load. I just carry with the stock barrel because I won't be shooting many, and they are hard cast and should not cause a leading problem.

Reliability has been 100%, although I have only shot about 25-30.

I have not noticed an accuracy difference, but I also had not really focused on it. For self defense distances, I don't think it really matters.

Hope this helps.

Yes, that's a huge help. Thanks again for running the test and sharing your results.

Kind of hard to justify a 10mm when the 45 ACP can put up that kind of penetration.

I am betting that those would put the smack down on a Muley, let alone a burglar!

I'd bet that too for muley or even bigger critters, but it wouldn't be legal for hunting those critters here.

I see a space after the first pic, but no video. Have noticed that, for some members, I don't see any of their pics...

Ideas?

If you ever did an adblock on a picture of a poster, you may not have clicked the 'custom' feature which just blocks an individual picture. If you didn't do that you will end up blocking every picture from that user's photobucket or whatever account.
