Klik,
What I should have said was the front cores of Partitions are a little softer than the softest cores in any GameKings--or at least that's what I've put together from information acquired over the years, including sectioning some bullet and testing core-hardness with a SAECO tool. Sierra does indeed use harder cores in some of the bigger GK's.

I've shot more than I can count with 150 sierras over IMR-4350. Put it in their shoulder and they don't get out of eyesight 99% of the time.

Not a huge sample, but I poked a small size hill country spike with a 7mag and 160 Gamekings. Broadside and thru-thru, dropped at the shot. Not too hard. Velocity was about 2900fps. 160gr Partitions at the same speed have dropped another 4 hill country does and spikes on the spot at about 70-110yds out of the same gun (same POI with both bullets and was trying them both). These were my first whitetail kills, I posted a thread, I'll try to link. The 160gr Partition is my LEAST favorite bullet. I've see too many just go straight through with little to no expansion. Perhaps Noslers changed then since them, but the older one's were just too hard. Good grief.

In S. Texas a 40yd tracking job can be quite a chore in the thick brush especially when it is warm, dark, and you have to think about 5ft rattlesnakes!
Thanks!
I 100% can relate. A deer that goes 50 yards can easily be lost. Though I've not used a 7mag I've used lots of Sierras in other cartridges and am confident they'd be a great choice. BTW, I've seen rattlers longer than 5' in the brush country. Messing with one isn't something I'd cherish.

I also pocked a pronghorn doe behind the shoulder with the 160gr Partition, dropp3d her in the spot. She was running towards me, kind of 1/4 towards at about 70yds. Partition punched through, but killed her there. I'm happy with all my kills with them, Partitions and SGKs. All 1 shot kills, and only 1 dashed about 20yds, but my 5yo could follow the blood track.
