"And BuzzFeed reports that Faison said the ATF had recovered the weapon today."

Did I miss something? Why is ATF involved at all. Is there federal jurisdiction here, state lines crossed, kidnapping, ???

Is this not a homicide case local jurisdiction should have control over, including physical evidence such as the weapon used?

All political, as usual?

Correct -- I did an auction where I did one check and bought 6 guns.

Then there was another form set to AFT stating that you purchased more than two weapons at a time. This is a requirement that the FFL must do on multipule firearm purchases.

Uh, not exactly.

Virginia has it's own background check system and does not use the Federal NICS system. Virginia As I remember only allows one handgun purchase every 30 days.

Unless this scumbag had been arrested or had a mental health action taken he wouldn't be ON the radar in the first place anywhere. He very successfully used the race card to intimidate everyone into NOT having him arrested. So WHOSE FAULT WAS IT that he wasn't on the "no buy" list??? Every employer, the manager of his apt complex, the victim of the turd throwing..everyone gave him a slide.

The "One handgun a month" law was repealed, I think in 2012.

That would almost make sense.

I'm not sure about the "recovered" language either. Could not have been too hard to "recover" it from the inside of a dead guy's car (assuming the one he used on himself is the same one he used for his crime against others). Unless they (ATF) had a hard time "recovering" it from the local constabulary.

Obama is the obvious answer to boil it all down but really everybody who worships at the alter of PC. When you get down to it, racism cuts both ways. People who do stuff FOR somebody (like give them a job over somebody more qualified) just because of their skin color, are just as guilty of racism as a Klucker.

That's only for handguns with the exception of certain rifles in a few Southern border states

The guy had a history of being incompetent, being hired to fulfill various quota's, and loving to blame somebody else cause he would get jobs based upon setasides that he had no ability to handle.

But you have to blame something.
and it was a 9mm too, we all know about THAT round.

only thing that the media will focus on, is that he used a gun

This guy was one sick SOB, but his acts just cause honest gun owners more trouble. I don't know what could be done to prevent sick SOB's from getting and using guns, but we do need to be part of the solution - if we aren't part developing a solution, we'll be stuck with whatever legislators devise.

Certainly, identifying people with serious mental health issues and getting them in a database could be a first step.

I heard a report on NPR today that was quoting at least two different ex- fellow-employees, one of which said that he made a casual remark to another employee that " all the reporters are in the field right now", meaning just that. That none were available. He said Flannigan went ballistic, screaming "why don't you just say what you mean- in the cotton field". On another occasion, one of the managers brought watermelon to work that he had grown- enough for everyone, and again Flannigan created a huge scene claiming it had been done to insult him and caused them to have to remove the watermelon. He also claimed 7-11 was a racist company because they promoted and sold watermelon slushees.
Apparently he was race obsessed and a stage 5 azzhole.

Very good point, which will be shot down.

There's no problem, thus no solution is needed. In life, things like this happen. Wise to be armed and stay sharp, but even that's no guarantee. People die from lightning strikes, too. The idea that there's a problem that needs addressing as a nation is a propaganda ploy in the service of a civilian disarmament agenda, and nothing more. To the extent that you adopt their talking points as a starting point for rational thought, you've been taken in by the propaganda, and have thus handed our enemies a victory. Instead, attack the false premise that periodic deaths by crazed nuts indicates a problem that needs addressing by government action.

Never gonna happen. The hire was a government mandate. As in many other thousands around the US.
