As was said, I'll lose that 3rd shot. I was thinking of going gentlemanly. I used my o/u, 3 years ago, and had a ball, and did just fine. Since I field hunt mostly, and birds decoy in very close, and lots of birds decoy, limits arent hard. I'm trying to keep this fun. Was thinking late last night, that maybe another 11-87 in 20 gauge would be fun, on duck only hunts.
Pretty much, I just want another gun, and trying to justify something I'll use, and not just sit in a safe, like so many do.
Maybe an AR kit ? I have a lower laying around.....
Another old 11-87 in mossy oak camo like I have now, but with a 21 inch barrel ?
Sucks wanting something, and trying to figure out one that will get used. NM Sucks for bg hunting. Ya never know if you'll get drawn from year to year. All these cool rifles, and nothing to use them on.
Friend just bought a CZ. A nicer model with case hardened receiver for $1400 for sporting clays. I suspect the same gun in a grade down may make your price point.
Stock was too low for me in that when mounted I was looking at the back of the receiver and not over the barrels. Triggers a might stiff. Other than that it appeared solid.
My buddy has an old Fox/Savage 311 that he picked up for cheap. 3" chamber a heavy gun to soak up recoil and s/b steel capable . If I was wanting a sxs waterfowl gun I would probably try to find one of those . s/b able to find one well under $1000 under $500 actually and only mods might be to open the full choke for steel and a pad. They aren't pretty guns nor svelte but tuff reliable guns for a decent price.

Save money and go on a different hunting trip? Sporting try a single shot although that may be too sporting (grin)? Get a SXS if that is what you want, you can always sell it off if you decide it isn't for you.
If you are going to use steel shot, you're limited to a newer gun. If you're willing to pay the extra cash for softer non-toxic alternatives, then you have a large field of older guns to choose from. Let us know what you decide.
But for steel shot, the CZ doubles are getting good reviews.
Don't hesitate to ask the question at a site dedicated to shotguns, like shotgunworld.com.
Well...I kinda am that when it comes to duck hunting. Just my opinion, but there is no way I'd designate a double for waterfowl, 'cause they're too damn awkward to break open in a lot of blinds.
The only thing worse than a liberal is a liberal that thinks they're a conservative.
I field hunt out of a layout blind. I get flocks of thousands of birds, ducks and geese. After 7 flocks work my spread, and 7 to 14 shots later, I'm done. It's no longer a matter of gotta fill a limit as it is just having fun.
