The guy is quick, smart and compassionate along with having an excellent reputation in internal medicine. Last time I saw him was in Fla at a shoot together. Driving back his phone rang and it was the owner of the range. One of his workers was having a diabetic and hypertensive episode-forgot their meds-and being out in the country called doc for advice. He asked some questions, then we went to the pharmacy, picked up what was needed, turned around and drove back. Made sure the patient was back on track and back to the motel we went. 3 hours out of his way total. The easy way out would have been to say call EMS

Charge? Zaharo. He could buy $40,000 shotguns-and has spent much more than that on them since I've known him-and it wouldn't dent his wallet. He even paid for the prescription out of his own pocket.

His patients love him, the nurses love him. Down to earth as they come.

He's what we call the real deal. More need to follow his example.

Does he know what percentage of paddlers patients are acute?

No, it's programming terminology that nobody outside of the business GAF about. Just my way of showing the Dr that he doesn't know everything either.

My 10 yo daughter taught me something this morning - the difference between a cupcake and a muffin.

Dr Paddler would do well to understand that everyone has something to offer.

Thanks.

Definitely not, but I'd bet on him not making his decisions based solely on the percentages. He would look at the entire patient. He frequently gets the call when others are stumped.

The future of today's health care has him worked up to the point he is probably going to do something else.

I lost a good doctor for the same reason. He could explain everything medical so that a layman could understand it. He could also explain how the medicine worked in a way that you were confident in his expertise. But, not many really good people are cut out to be government employees. I imagine paddler will excel as a bureaucrat.

Ethan, wishes for a grand day today for you and yours,

No "kiddie porn" here, we apparently are staying on topic. Perhaps in respect to the OP, Mr. Seafire.
This is a serious thread and we should concentrate our efforts on it remaining so. wink
The "good doctor" (well, maybe not so good accrding to his reviews) deserves serious treatment grin

Grim prospect.

...given the clearly possible evolution of his communist party's avocation for trampling rights, his loathing for the 2A, and scorn for the "proletariat,"...I can see him sitting in his dacha masturbating, while he casts is votes as a member of a death panel.

Yeah, I doubt he would excel at anything.

The funny part is that he's too stupid to know that. He thinks all of us are in the wrong and he is so much smarter and very superior to us. Can't see the forest for the trees.

Hey, I just came here to promote rational gun control in the face of multiple mass shootings. The I saw the tread on Fiorina, so had to fact check that one. Then I saw the thread by Shrap, that big-mouthed, ATV-riding, grouse-ground-swatting slob who likes to think he's a hunter. How could I not put in a word for sportsmanship? Then somebody raised the issue of patient satisfaction, which also raises the issue of evidence-based medicine. Answer the questions I posed, then look back on your own experiences. Have you been mistreated? Odds aren't good. If you doubt that, google "antibiotics for sinusitis in adults", or go to the CDC website on bronchitis.

Another set of questions:

1) How many of you are on Social Security?

2) How many of your are on Medicare or Medicaid?

3) How many are on disability?

4) How many of you hate big government?

I'll check back from time to time. Haven't heard from Chaffetz yet. Good article on him in today's Trib:

http://www.sltrib.com/opinion/3043328-155/rolly-chaffetz-looks-stupid-makes-gains

Now, where did my buddy Shrapnel go. Thought he was going to fly his own plane down for a hunt.

4 Yes.

But if someone answers "Yes" to all of those questions, all it means is that they are smart enough to get free money.

ETA:
I think it's interesting how you use your phony morality to justify the evil of govt entitlements. You make money from them. So, to sooth your guilty soul, you pretend like they are morally acceptable policies.

At least you could be honest with yourself and others to admit that in spite of the fact that govt entitlements are immoral, you take money from them for whatever reason.

Mine'd be similar to yours Barry,

However, at least in my case and that of many of the "regularly, lifelong" employed folks around here, the money collected from those progams isn't "free". Seems I've already paid nearly $3K in premiums this year for my "insurance" policy payable later in my life (assuming I can make it a few more years that is grin ) and it is an insurance policy (scam?):

"OASDI stands for old age, survivor and disability insurance, which is more commonly referred to as Social Security. To pay for these programs, the federal government imposes a tax on earned income that must be withheld by your employer. The OASDI deduction on your paycheck shows how much was withheld."

Now back to the "doctor" issue. I'm beggining to think the subject of this thread is considering running for office. He still hasn't answered 'flaves question, has not addressed issues and concerns posited by other members, and has annoying habit of asking a new set of questions every other post.

As I alluded to in my post regarding fish health, I wonder if the good doctor tested any of the "complainers" that rated him for the "actual" cause of their sinusitis or bronchitis, or did he just diagnose by "percentage? Did he "request" from his patient a sinus swab or perhaps a sputum sample to determine if their condition was bacterial and warranted appropriate measures? (would he know how to make such a request from a lowly patient?) Bacterial sampling, culture, isolation and identification is not that dificult, heck I did it many times and I'm just a fish dude, not a MD from UCLA. (I was "poor" and went to a CA State Univ, not a "prestigious" UC school. Yes there's a supposed difference to some folks)

From the tone of the comments on the rating sites one could almost hazard a guess that if a person showed up at the clinic, while he was working, with a case of the ongoing coughs they might be rudely told to "buck up, go home, listen to the doctor and drink some chicken soup. Percentages say what you have isn't bacterial" (we should after all listen to the doctors, even on topics they are not expert in, right)

Barry, I hope you at least are having a nice start to a weekend, and you are certainly correct in stating

"You still haven't learned"

Thanks again for your posts.

FMR.....You are one egomaniacal prick aren't you?

So many others have pegged various things about you, I don't need to repeat their efforts.

Your comment elevating doctors oh so high above all others tells me all I need to know about you.

I happen to have had the enlightening experience of taking many classes with premed and med students during my college years which reinforced the fact that doctors are far from infallible and the simple fact they have a MD behind their name, doesn't immediately impart a god-like level of wisdom.

Reading most all of this thread has left me with ONE MAIN thought. Man I feel sorry for your dog.

Your poor dog has no choice but to be stuck with your condescending ass. And as someone once said, dogs are good judges of character so that dog knows what a bad draw in life she got. Poor girl.

hell at my last doc appointment my doc said i knew a hell of alot more about Lyme disease than he did after some time looking stuff up showed everything i told him was backed up by his references cause he hadnt ever really dealt with it and ive had it....

Useful..

Like the fish bait some have suggested?

I'm not willing to go that far.

From the looks of it he is "useful" in that he at least can take care of his dog and at least takes it to the woods for fun. "Sportsmanlike" fun of course.

And he's doing a good job at keeping us ammused and occupied like our "Cermalube friend".

Geno

PS, thanks for keeping "this thread" at least suitable for work. I get to look at it between busy times.

No matter how tall, rich, or proud he stands, he's still just a bottom feeder.

And no self respcting mud turtle would even bother stop and eat some of that carcass...

Particularly.

Interesting choice of words speaking of things minute.

Root word: particle.

Lame, too is a good word.
Synonym: limp.

You speak regularly to your little pee wee herman of such things, don't you.
