Serial # dates to 1919. I don't use Facebook so I am not able to see your rifle. Tom

Your link won't work here. Try photobucket or such and we can see it fine.

Without a factory letter on the scope D & T holes documenting factory drilled mounts, its a really nice shooter. Not very likely but possible.
The factory letter will confirm wood and engraving as it left the factory. I'd want that for this rifle. See misc good info tab above to find out who and where.

Certainly get it lettered from Savage Historian and try to gather all background history you can about this rifle. Deep mirrored bluing, color case hardening on lever and scope rings appear very recently done as does the checkering. The engraving and most everything about this rifle says Savage but appears to me to be restored. Beautiful rifle. Tom

Beautiful! Worth the price of admission for a letter for sure. If those finishes were original, you'd need white linen gloves to handle it, and keep it in a vacuum sealed glass case to preserve them. At the worst it is a stellar refinish and worth plenty just on beauty alone.

I don't talk about guns anymore cause somebody always gets sand in their vagina and then they call me an azzhoe, yada, yada, yada., blah, blah, blah.
Whatever...
Nothing about that gun that was done at the factory.
All that being said, nice gun...

Agreed. Custom gun not factory, and a very very nice one at that.

Thanks for all the input, it's all greatly appreciated. We figured the gun was redone but wanted more opinions. It's a beautiful gun and it is for sale. The barrel length is 21-22 inches.
