It's not really light until 7ish so I'm gonna do the usual AM drive around.

Road hunting is so much easier.

Actually cutting hay and working on corrals tomorrow. Shoot another cock bird but no actual deer hunting other than driving to work.

Getting ready for a stretch of night shifts starting tomorrow night. On plus side I have spent this week hunting pheasants, huns and sharpies most every day.

If the weather cools down north of me while on nights it should move the ducks into SE Alberta by my next days off.

Nope, I will be following that Red -Tail hawk in the movie "Jeremiah Johnson" headed for the Musselshell...

Where you headed? What are you after?

I'm headed NE of Ingomar with my daughter. Going after deer and if an elk makes the mistake of showing itself.

East of Musselshell a couple clicks along the river. We will be after pheasants, prairie dogs, rabbits and any lost elk or big deer. We go down there a couple times a year. Dinner at the Jersey Lily is always a good option as well. We used to hunt antelope North of Sumatra when there were still antelope around...

Hauling a tractor out to the fence crew, with a stop to try to "Band-Aid" a county road with a neighbor - ruts so deep he parks his cattle truck just off the highway, and has his wife fetch him the last 5 miles to the house in the pickup.

Low antelope numbers here as well.

Noticed a few more this year than last but didn't put in for tag.

Antelope numbers seem, to me, to be off a bit - but still quite huntable numbers around here.

At the house doing some computer work. Lost my hunting lease spot and I don't have anywhere to hunt this year. Kinda depressed about it. Sold my stands. Got two deer feeders sitting in the back yard. Hate the thought of selling them. Guess as long as I keep them, there is always some hope that some opportunity may come up. I could take the pellet gun and shoot a squirrel in the back yard, I guess, but it just ain't the same. Sigh...

Mojo,

Go easier on yourself next year. Like I do.

A 1.5 lb longbow with a quiver full of arrows is way easier to hike with than a rifle, as long as your NOT getting an elk. I know whereof I speak. laugh

People ask if I'm going hunting, I usually tell them no, just taking the _______ (fill in blank weapon) for walk today, it hasn't been out of the house for a bit.

Good luck, looks like nice country all the same.

Damn, that is some beautiful country.

It's getting close to terrible weather here, but that pic seals it! I'm going backpacking and fishing next weekend!
