I'm assuming you mean the actual size difference? I don't know that offhand - I'm sure someone can chime in with that info.

If you mean what is the basic difference, the CR is designed to be a smidge smaller overall, thus easier to load. I have several guns that shoot the CR basically the same as the std, but I use the CR's only because they load better. Many rifles with tight bores its tough to use std sabots.

The Crushed load easier in bores where the standard are a struggle to seat.

The Crushed are more commonly found with bullets that are either .430 or .452 in diameter. The Standard sabots are more commonly seen with .429 and .451 bullets.

But your bore size determines it best. For all muzzleloaders are not equally sized inside that bore. Manufacturers vary and even the factory where the barrel is made may vary.

For instance: In the same factory, the barrel produced Monday morning may be tighter or looser than the barrel made Friday afternoon. There are no set / strict standards in muzzleloader barrel-sizing.

I am a rare example in determining the "no set standard". Usually T/C Rifles have tighter bores than Knight Rifles. Yet my Knight Vision has a tighter bore than my T/C Omega. So "anything goes" with this fine sport. Different sizing / weights even relates to ML bullets. Individual bullets in your box of 25 are not equally grained or equally weighted.

I use the crush rib sabots in my Savage smokeless ML with Barnes original bullets, which are .458 dia.

MMP orange sabots have a petal thickness of .024" (.506 with the Barnes).

Harvester Black Crush rib sabots have a petal thickness of .0255" (.509 with the Barnes).

The Black Crush Rib sabots have fine ribs running vertically along the sabot. The ribs "crush" and engrave from the rifling, which makes a very tight fit yet loadable. They are a very popular sabot.
