Any opinions on the Savage Model 330? I'm going to look at one at an auction tomorrow. I wish I knew more about what price range they sell in, but I've never seen one for sale. Thanks.

They sell around here in the $400 range, the 20 bringing a little more than the 12. The 330 is single selective trigger, extractors, plain barrel. The 333 got you ejectors and a vent rib. The 20 and 12 ga barrles are interchangeable and also I think the valmet 412 barrels can be used with a small modification. It is a very strong action with the sliding top strap ala: remington 32 or kreighoff. Good luck: weagle PS: this one is over on the Griffin and Howe site for under $400. recoil pad is aftermarket. http://www.griffinhowe.com/sgmoreinfo.cfm

Thanks Weagle! My only reference point has been a Valmet combo gun (.308/20ga if I remember) I watched at the local Cabela's for a couple of years priced at $2200.
$400-$500 is more in my price range.

BTW, I think they are one of the more underpriced guns on the market right now. I'm looking hard at a 20 ga in a local shop.

I have a 330 that has 2 sets of barrels. It came with the 12 and 20 guage . A previous owner had ribs installed on both sets of barrels.
It is a nice shootin shotgun and only set me back $400.

Well, this ol' boy didn't take real good care of his guns; they all needed cleaning and oiling. There were about 10 long guns and two revolvers at the sale. The Savage 330 was in better condition than most of the others though. There was a dime sized spot of surface rust on the bottom of the lower barrel and the butt plate was cracked at the upper screw hole (the plate was all there, just a small crack on one side of the hole that needed repaired). I like to get into the bidding on an odd number ($325, $375, etc), but I got in on an even number and quit at $500. There was a pause in the action and I was starting to think I had just blown 500 bucks, when someone bid $525. In a way, I'm glad there was another bid, but that sure was a nice shotgun. I might have went ahead and blown the rent money if it weren't for that rust spot. I'll probably see one in worse condition sell for 3x as much someday, but a guy can't buy everything he wants all the time (at least I can't), and life would be boring if he could.

You made the right call there. For $500 it better be pretty clean.
