I just bought some 139 gr interlocks for the .280 improved and after a little looking on the net, decided on either H4831 or H4350. Local store had H4831 so that is what I will try. miles

Rl22 and the manuals don't do the 280 any justice..

I agree, they back off the pressure compared to the 270 in deference to the pumps and semi-autos that Remington released the caliber in. I think the SAAMI max pressure is 5000psi lower for the 280 vs 270. You can typically turn the throttle up a bit, safely in a bolt gun over the book max loads.

I'm running 3010 FPS with the Nosler 150 gr. ABLR in my 280 Rem. with IMR7828SSC. Just have to find the sweet spot regarding seating depth for accuracy.

H4350 gets me to 3k with 140 TTSXs from a 22" factory, Remington mtn rifle tube. It's a pretty consistent MOA gun out to 500 anyway.

RL22 breaks 3000 FPS with the 140's quite easily. I used the first gen Barnes X bullets when had a 280 Rem. (before the A.I. version I currently use). Ran that at 60.5 grains for about 3050. Pressure wasn't an issue, but case capacity was maxed.

My 280 Rem H4831 & Imr4350 with 140 AB's
My 280 AI loves N165. I intend to give it a whirl in the 280 Rem soon.

Me too. It makes the .280 equal to the great .270!

I'll second that 270 data notion, but the ol' 270 peaks with 150 factory or 160 gr. handloaded bullets.... not the case with the .280.

The 280 can be had in factory form with 160 or 165 grain bullets or handloaded with 175-180 grain bullets....

It is to bad the 280 was offered with ho-hum loads and rifles designed around a shotgun platform from the very company that bore it. Remington should have run loads full tilt from the start, only offered it in a bolt rifle and dump the frigg'n auto-loader/pump rifle notion and offered factory loadings featuring 100 to 175 grain bullets... Ya know, Almost like they did with there 7mm mag or Winchester with there smaller 270. I think things would be different for the 280 and for the 270.... whistle

Same load RL 22 with Nosler 140 Gr E tip, in my 24" 700 KS .280 Rem about same velocity. My 22" Ruger in 280 Rem is more accurate with 60 gr RL 22 same bullet.
