Agreed with Pathfinder and BSA - here is my work in progress, just got the bolt handle back from being reshaped and checkered and next is some shooting, maybe a PA deer hunt and then off for Black T to finish it all off. To the OP... I'd grab a McM Compact or Hunter pattern for an IN deer stand gun. But if the expense, wait, and ergos are right the Legend can't be beat. I like that! Me too!!! I'm picturing my 338 in that stock. I'm a little hesitant though because of the right hand cast off on the echols legends. Not good for a left hand shooter.. He makes a lefty that is cast on.

It is a McMillan designed and sold by D'Arcy Echols. Pernod might be able to hook you up if he built your gun, or order straight from Echols.

Brad, Mr.Penrod has his own version based on the WSM case, NOT the WSSM case. He did tell me that his version is virtually identical to the WSSM version by another guy, however he was VERY clear that he uses the WSM not the WSSM case. Thanks for the input. kstockfo

There are no short action Legend stocks, as far as I know, so that is out for your project.
The Legend is my favorite pattern for large calibers/rifles based on the M70, and the compact for the trimmer ones.

I have a Compact/Edge on a M70. If I were to restock, I'd likely try a Sako Hunter pattern.
I really like the Compact, but I could use a tad higher comb.

The Legend is my favorite pattern for large calibers/rifles based on the M70, and the compact for the trimmer ones. Same here. Love the feel/lines of the Legend. I really think the no.2 contour is the bare minimum for the Legend (even those look a bit small in it), and really think something no.3 and over looks/balances better.

Just to answer an earlier question, Gene is building me a matched pair of 30-06 rifles one left and one right (my kid is a lefty).
He's a great guy - trying to decide on the scopes, leaning toward Z6 1.7-10x42.
These are a great example of buy once, cry once. My kid is 18 and I'm hoping my grandkids will enjoy these rifles one day.
