My wifes family heirloom Rem 722, great cartridge in the right hands. Impressive! I've shot the 130 TTSX with 4895 quite a bit, but settled on the 165 Partition and RL 15 because it's a bit more accurate in my Sav 99. The 150 Hornady SP with 4895 is a good combo also.

My Savage 99 prefers Hornady 150SST bullets. The Hornady manual lists 44gr IMR4064, but used a Savage 110 bolt gun. Ken Waters listed 40gr of that powder tested in a Savage 99. Ken's load doesn't yield stretched cases in my 99. , The 150 gr SST seats perfectly into the 300 Sav case so you can crimp into the cannelure right at the max overall length for the M-99. This bullet with Ken Waters load of 40 gr of IMR 4064 happens to be one of the most accurate loads in my rifle. I use the Lee Factory Crimp Die and recommend it. The crimp gives me a bit of confidence considering the very short neck on the 300 Sav. and it makes for a great looking loaded cartridge with the red tip and all.

38.5 grains of IMR 3031 with 150 grain Power Point or Silvertip has been very accurate in several 99s. Right around 2600 fps in 24" barrel.

I worked up loads with Win748 and H4895 with the Hornady #30303 150gr SST (the bullet designed for the Savage 99 .300 Savage) and the 165gr Sierra GameKing.
I settled on 39.0gr of H4895 with the Hornady bullet. Velocity averaged 2570fps; bullets were on top of each other at 25yd (open sights) and 1.5" at 100 yds.
Cross reference several load manuals, work up from a starting loads. What works and is safe in my rifle may not be in yours.

I can't vouch for how those loads will do in a '99, but the stoutest load wasn't troublesome at all in my 700. Easy bolt lift and so on.

I use 41.5 gr. of IMR4320 and a 150 gr. Sierra bullet. In the only rifle I chronographed, a 99R, it went 2550 fps. Remington 150 gr. ammo was 2620 fps in the same rifle.
