Oh yeah!

That might un-seat lasagna for the top spot.

I make a killer lasagna, honest, but Ham and Scalloped potatoes in this house don't last a minute longer than my hand needs to let them hit the table.

We'd most likely do just fine if forced to sit and prepare a meal.

1) Ribeye 1-1 1/2" thick cooked medium rare with a small amount of garlic butter melted on top.

2) Homemade cheese enchiladas with double refried beans and spanish rice with a side of fresh flour tortillas and guacamole.

3) Pizza, prefer supreme of some sort

4) Strawberry shortcake. Fresh berries, homemade vanillas whipcream with fresh shortcake biscuits.

5) Blue Bell ice cream - cookies and cream

When it comes to comfort foods I'm a big meat and 3 kind of guy.

1 meat and 3 veges with cornbread, banana pudding and sweet tea.

So for the meat:

Fried Chicken
Country Fried Steak
Meatloaf
Pot Roast
Pork chop

For the vegetables (pick 3):

Mac & Cheese
Collards
Creamed corn
Fried Okra
Country style green beans
Mashed potatoes w/ gravy
Dressing
Sweet potatoes
Black eyed peas or pintos
Sliced tomatoes and onions
Wilted lettuce with spring onions

Beyond the above:

Corned beef and cabbage with red potatoes and carrots
Pot roast with root veges
Pork/Chicken parm
Low country boil
Chix and dumplings

This is so close to my top 5 I'll do +1 instead of typing it in. Although fried venison back strap has to be in there somewhere.

HA! That's exactly what it is Mike. My Mom's menu.

Meat and 3 is very indigenous to the South and a proven soul/comfort food menu!

I'm gonna cheat and throw in a wild card, Mike.

6) Nuthin' smacks of comfort food on a cold morning more than a big steaming bowl of Quaker Oats laced with raisins, a ton of dark brown sugar and cream.

I'm coming into this movie late.
If you have a cookbook, most all the pages work for me.

Baked ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, most anything on the side

I'd love to just once again eat Pearl Miller's raspberry pie again.
Home picked berries, an inch thick pie, home rendered lard crust, one those, never again, but never forgotten treats!

Sha Schlick, lamb, lemons, onions, three day marinade, no refrigeration. Grilled on skewers.

Bone in rib steak over mesquite or oak.

Drop biscuits, sausage, bacon, eggs, gravy. One pile and smothered.

Fish tacos. Ling or rock cod preferably. Home made chile tarter sauce.

Spinach, stinky cheese, fruit, nut salad with balsamic vinaigrette.

Always vulnerable to whimsical change. Or some sort of pork, or shrimp, crab, lobster, scallops..........

Wonder if I'm related to Cal cook? His list sounds good!

Biscuits and gravy from scratch, yup that's good stuff especially with a couple of eggs runny side up.

I'm a big fan of omelets, mostly for breakfast but you can have them anytime of day.

Baby back ribs.

Gumbo, just have to have some sort of soup as a comfort food and a good gumbo is painfully good.

Chocolate chip cookies still warm with a tall glass of cold milk.

That recipe just has to include miracle whip and margarine.
