55 grains has a pretty good following, it seems to work well in a lot of rifles. Work up carefully of course.

There are lots of good loads for 130 gr. Just check out any of the reloading manuals. My favorite is the old standby - 60gr. H-4831 and it's still hard to beat.

I get the same velocity as 257Bob with the same load.... But better accuracy running 58.5 H-4831SC Clocks at 2940 and I shoot my best groups with this load.

Like said before 55 grs of 4350 worked for me in one 270, the other liked 4831
I may not be smart but I can lift heavy objects
I have a shotgun so I have no need for a 30-06.....

Magpro gave me a couple one hole 3 shot groups and 3200 fps.

For many years I've been reloading the 270 Win with Horn 130gr and 62 Gr of H4831 over a Mag primer in Win or Rem or Nosler Brass. This give 3100 to 3150 FPS (chronographed). I have used this load in 6 different rifles over the past 50 years. This load was given to me by the late Joyce Hornady. It was recently published in a gunzine by Layne Simpson. I get normal extraction and brass life is 20 or more loads with trimming every 5 reloads. From what I'm reading here, ya'll could stuff you reloads a little more.

AlabamaEd Speed isn't the ONLY requirement for a good load.... And rifles, like people are individuals.
My book lists 60 grains of H4831 as max.

I've loaded 55 grains IMR 4350 and 130 Ballistic Tips for Remington 700's, 710's, Rugger 77's, Howas, and Winchester 70's. Every one shot MOA or better with that load. I have killed 30 to 40 deer with it as well. Never recovered a bullet and never saw a deer go more than three feet from where it was hit. In my opinion, it may well be the best combination of bullet and load for caliber there is. It just shoots too well in too many rifles.

the 62 grain load of h4831 was also used by Jack O'conner. I loaded it in the late 1980's when i read it in one of his books. flattened the heck out of my primers in the 270 remington mountain rifle i shot it in. But the bolt was easy to lift. Then I found out that load was for the original war surplus h4831. when the war surplus ran out and manufacturing was resumed on h4831 it was a little faster thus the lighter max loading in the manuals. Disclaimer- i don't remember where and how i learned this and if it ain't true it ought to be! Ha Ha

My M700 SS likes 55grs of IMR 4350, 130gr NPs, WW cases, WLR primers. No idea as to speed, but it shoots great in my rifle.

Mine likes IMR 4831 and WW Brass. Chronographed 3276 in a 24" bbl. 59.5gr, 130 Partitions. Yes, that's WSM territory.
DO NOT USE WITHOUT WORKING UP TO IT FROM AT LEAST 4 GRAINS BELOW.

If 4350 is in the mix I use 55 or 56 grains of H-4350 in Winchester cases with a CCI primer and the 130 grain Nosler Solid Base.
However, my most favored load for the 130 Grainer is 60 grains of RL-22 in a Winchester case and CCI primer.
Winchester cases are a bit roomier than some, so factor that into your loads as you are working up if you use other brands of cases.
I have found it is hard not to get a 270 to shoot well.

I'll cast another vote for H4831 For me, it's been the most consistent powder for numerous 130 gr bullets. I've found the best accuracy at about 60 grains and usually settle on that loading.
