First, that he can't MAKE laws, he would only be in charge of the organizations that enforce laws. Second, that murder trials are almost always state prosecutions. Third, that he can't dictate to the states what their laws are.
Going to issue an executive order that will force all states to enact the death penalty for anybody killing a cop.

Get used to it. It would surprise me if he doesn't go all the way. Lots of people, BOTH Democrats AND Republicans are absolutely FED up. Obama promised change. You got change. A country completely divided. I think there's been enough of the mealy mouthed politicians on their own agendas. He's got things stirred up and that's exactly what NEEDS to happen.

Lot can be accomplished with powerful military & police backing. Was it "here are your laws here are my bayonets let us see who prevails"? History has shown that the latter indeed prevailed.
It was a political maneuver seeking the approval of the police unions and the FOP.
It was an excellent maneuver and one likely to garner him further political clout and acceptance.

You're the lawyer, not me. Is it perfectly legal for a president to force states to impose the death penalties on cop killers? Even for states which have banned the death penalty?
