I finally remembered while visiting the local ABC store Saturday.
I bought a bottle[pint/375ml] of Bulleit Rye.
Damn, that schit is good!
Why didn't anyone tell me this? smile

There have been several threads on Rye. I like regular Bulleit very well. In Rye, the best you can get is High West Rendezvous Rye, but it is spendy.

Try a Manhattan cocktail made with Rye. Makes for a good evening!

Clicked on this while sipping some George Dickel Rye. Also have some High West Double Rye in the whiskey pantry. Whiskey lovers should have some single malt scotch/Irish Whisky, Bourbon and Rye in their possession at all times.

Make it a Perfect Rye Manhattan (cut the red vermouth in half and replace with dry white) for a perfect evening.

Dickel Rye is good and doesn't break the bank.

I procured some Dickel Rye on the recommendation of a complete stranger. It's not without its charms.

And on the subject of rye, though I've never had a Manhattan, I've a strange urge to do a sample. No doubt there's a 24HCF thread on Manhattans... Like this one

Never cared for the earthy spicy character of rye, whether brewed or distilled, but lately, I've really enjoyed most of the rye spirits and beer I've tasted.

Definitely coming around to it as my tastes change. In fact, one of the best beers I've had in a long while was a Rye "Wine".

Variety is the spice of life. Rittenhouse is a great buy, easy to find and a frequent visitor to my whiskey pantry, but it tends to be a short visit.

These threads almost make me wish for a palate for the stuff.

They all taste the same to me.
