SAS - any truth to the rumor of threaded barells? That is true as well.... From the EO webpage: This Kimber 84M Montana is a great light weight rifle chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor. It offers all of the American manufacturing, accuracy and reliability that you have come to love from Kimber. This rifle features a light weight and durable composite stock, stainless steel action and barrel, threaded barrel and a sub MOA guarantee. Bad move

There enough meat at the muzzle on these for 5/8 threads? Or are they 9/16"?

I've seen it demonstrated that a thread smaller than 3/4" is quite likely to bell the muzzle.

What's the twist rate on the 22-250?
Did they bring back the 204?

Can you attach a front iron sight to the threads?
I'm really getting the urge for a 6.5 CM, but don't know what to think about the threaded barrel.

If you really hate the threaded barrel, a hacksaw will fix it in less than 5 minutes.
Or you can hire a gunsmith to do it.

That's a really interesting development. I have an irrational interest in the 6.5 CM, and the Montana action, combine them both along with a 5/8 thread from the factory and I may have to finally take the leap on a Kimber. I'm betting screwing my 20oz Saker onto a svelte 5lb rifle would lead to a really funky balance though.

If the thread protectors are done right, you can hardly tell the barrel is threaded when the protector is on. I doubt there is enough meat on the end of the barrel for a 5/8 thread. I think on their other models it is 9/16 along with a 9/16 to 5/8 adapter. I'm glad to see them provide threading from the factory. I hope it spurs more people to buy suppressors and may eventually help remove suppressors as NFA items.

I have a big interest in a Kimber Mt in the Creedmoor. I have almost no interest in suppressors but if there is a decent cap, I don't see how there'd be an issue.

I had been planning to convert a Montana over to 6.5 Creedmoor so this is a major win for me. As long as the cap looks good I'll leave it. If not a quick trim will give me exactly what I want.

I've seen it demonstrated how threads smaller than 3/4" can bell the bore at the muzzle. There are lots of precision shooters out there firing tens of thousands of 30 cal rounds through rifles with suppressors and 5/8 x 24 threads. I've never heard of issues related to a properly done thread job. What was the barrel length, caliber and thread pattern on the barrel that was belled?

I'm not sure I follow the factory ammo advantage folks are mentioning with the 6.5CM over the .260. A quick search of Midway shows 7 offerings for the 6.5, and 19 different loads for the .260. Seems the .260 has a clear advantage in factory ammo. What am I missing?
I don't reload, but looking at both, along with the 7mm-08 for my granddaughter.

It was in a video I watched. Several sizes bores were tested.
The muzzle ends were tried with precision gauge pins. In cases where the threaded section was smaller than 3/4" diameter a gauge pin which closely fit the muzzle end always slid in up to the point where the threads terminated, then it stopped.
The 3/4" threaded muzzles weren't affected this way.

A difference without a distinction on a hunting rifle.

SAS - any truth to the rumor of threaded barells? I wonder if that's just for the European market...?
