UA is good for golf, if its going hunting, if its not first lite or sitka, it aint worth chit to me... I have no reason to spend considerably more on something when I'm perfectly happy with UA. That doesn't mean I haven't thought about grabbing Sitka a time or two. I probably do a bit more hunting than you get to do (for deer) and ive owned a bunch of just about everything, and IME first lite and sitka are the bees kneees

I ordered one of the UA RR 03 shells about a month ago. A size large was way too small, XL fits okay but the shoulders and arms are still almost too snug. (I'm 6' and 200lbs) The material appears to pretty nice and should cut the wind and block a decent rain. I do wish the hood was removable, might cut it off and add some heavy duty snaps. Small logo, first camo clothing I have ever bought. Pretty sure I was drinking when I made the order.

Coop,
I have no doubt what so ever that the Sitka it top notch gear. I just can't bring myself to pay almost double for it when I get the quality Im ok with from UA. That said I don't have UA jackets, just base layers. The 4.0 base is almost too hot if you move around at all.

Sam, I agree the sizes run at least one size smaller than listed.

T, UA the hoodies I have run true to size, maybe even a little big, the RR jacket fits different.
The plan is to wear 1-3 layers of snug fitting merino under it depending on temps.

I have the UA 4.0 base layers. They are awesome for sitting in the cold. But like Tzone said, if you do any walking/stalking, prepare to sweat like a menopausal moose.

We usually shoot 6~8 prone matches when the temps are at or below freezing. Wearing a base layer of UA cold gear under either a sweatshirt or a cammando sweater I'll sweat my aze off when shooting or pulling targets. The only time I throw on a coat is when I'm scoring.

I don't care for labels much either but letting it stop you from buying good gear is silly IMO.... I can see your point here; makes sense to me & testimonials here from people who REALLY use the gear make me think I may need to check em out. my pick up has sveral TOYOTA labels as do the vehicles of the anti bill-board guys but I bet they don't walk to work just to prove a point... Comparing UA to Toyota is like comparing a Hanes underwear tag to a billboard on the EWay. As was mentioned NF & UA both became yuppie labels; the former lost its prominence by chasing just that over useful gear. I really do like the looks of SamO's coat and like what I've heard from TZ & others re: other products of theirs. It demonstrates to me that perhaps I've committed the great sin of reaching a conclusion prior to appropriate investigation.

I noticed they are making (marketing) boots now, has anyone tried them ?? They're good but nothing special. Look at Irish Setters. Travis Best pair of boots I ever bought were I. Setters. Best outdoor wear I ever bought was/is UA. It may costs a few bucks more but it last forever. Like my first business manager always said...you buy a $99 suit then you get a $99 suit.

You won't use "overpriced" UA gear yet you buy Columbia... Dick's has great sales on UA gear, good prices on their stuff at their factory outlets too. Which has Columbia logos all over the place. As does Cabela's, Mossy Oak, Carhartt, REI, Grudens etc. Show me something other than cheap China junk from Wal-Mart without a logo. And even then.... Just silly! Like saying everything in your house and life are totally made in the USA!
