Abso-freakin'-LUTELY!  If I got a dog with the intent to do gun sports with it (quail or pheasant hunting, that sort of thing) would you wanna go with me while I get the hang of bird hunting and dog and I figure it out?She's in college and has done a good job of getting some separation. No failure to launch here.... I miss her and am always trying to find ways to get quality time, but it's really hard at this age, as some other parents here likely can attest. She's always been "gunny" and a good shot with a .22, .223, and my 7-08. She's a fierce 2A supporter which has gotten her into some very interesting debates in college where the PC line is, of course, that they are pure eeeevil. I told her I'd buy her a shotgun. I think a 20-ga O/U will be about right. Her getting a dog is a whole separate issue but she's got the "need something little to care for" young female thing going BAD and has a job, so if that's how she wants to spend her money.... beats a baby, that's for sure. Best text I've gotten in a while! If she isn't already get her an NRA membership to help her protect this new interest.

I had that accident right when she was 15-16 years old and it sucked because I couldn't really shoot for a while there. We'd always planned on her joining me in hunting at about that age, but then I had to shut it down. So I'm just extremely happy that she's thinking like this. It's spooky as hell when they hit this age; you assume you'll reel them back in a little later in life, but there's no guarantees of that. She also wants to get her CCW when she turns 21. I have mixed feelings about that. Hopefully we can talk in more depth about that WHEN WE ARE BIRD HUNTING!  Jeff, it's great to see you back here on the 24HCF. I'm guessing/hoping the aftereffects of the concussion have abated? As for the daughter, my youngest had similar epiphany at about age 21, and I got her started with bird hunting and then deer hunting. FWIW, I bought her a 20-ga autoloader as her first shotgun, and IMHO it's the best choice for a petite female to start out with. Remington 11-87 LT20 features a cut-down stock suitable for smaller frames, and the gas-operated system reduces recoil to a non-factor level. My daughter got her first deer just a few weeks ago (check out the thread I started in the General Big Game forum if you care to read some details). She's been hunting 10 years now, and we've got in a lot of quality father-daughter interaction in the field as a consequence. Keep us posted.

THEN do the same for yourself and hang a photo of your certificate here. There are lots of good shotguns waiting out there, but that won't matter much if your President and his handlers are successful in circumventing the Constitution. Anyone who's not helping fight for our gun rights is a free-loader............the majority of gun owners are. Gun owners who vote gun grabbers into office and then brag about it rate somewhere below the hog schitt.
