Miami is one of the best 'foodie' places in America. Probably the best South American food anywhere, and a lot of Greek, Italian, French, German, Russian......... Just everything. For lunch today, we tried a, for us, new place. Blue Collar. Food was out of this world, and trust me, I am picky. http://www.bluecollarmiami.com/

We got a dandy biscuit joint,....... Did you check it out yet? Or does the mule keep bucking the cart harness and you can't get to town? Back on the original topic though, my particular town doesn't have much to crow about, but I DO live just about 40 minutes outside of DC and only 15 minutes outside of Frederick, both of which are food lovers' paradises.

Consulted the mule and he's good to go as well. Big storm coming tomorrow. Gonna hitch mule to the snowplow. He ain't too wild about that. Wants more hay,5 day work week and paid vacation. Gonna look up "how to marinate mule" when I'm done typing this.

Our biggest problem is a lack of local fresh primary ingredients.
We have a surprisingly diverse cuisine but as I'm fond of saying we have two types of service, slow and very slow.

I've been in Greater Cincy for 25 years now, but I just can't bring myself to brag it up (Graeter's ice cream, notwithstanding). That said, I've not had a finer steak in DC, NYC, Chicago, Vegas... anywhere, than what Jeff Ruby puts out of his restaurants. Morton's, The Palm, Chicago Chop House, Ruth's Chris, Gene & Georgetti, Smith & Wollensky - they're all top notch, no doubt. But the Ruby joints truly are world class. Bring your wallet. Bring a 2nd mortgage. FC

The thing about restaurants here is a fairly average steak is 30 bucks and I can literally see cows out each window of the restaurant........ and service has two speeds, slow and just go find it yourself.........

Booming! Both in Virginia and South Carolina.
Especially, Greenville, SC, which is on fire. As I recall, Greenville along with Orlando and Cleveland were huge test markets for new chain products.
Regardless, the locals really support the locals here.
Cannot remember the last time a local closed its doors here.

I'll brag up two places. In Iowa, The Iowa River Power Company, Coralville, Iowa. An old hydro electric generating plant made over into a restaurant.
In NW Ontario, Dryden, the Riverview Lodge, a century old log building that was built as a privet hunting lodge.
Mostly, however, our dinning room is my, all time pick.

I rarely eat out for steak. Anyplace that might serve a steak better than I can cook myself is way too expensive.

Within just a few miles (heck, I can walk to two of these) are some really great places. Great seafood - https://www.catonsvillegourmet.comSome innovative cuisine - http://www.blackkettledining.comFrench country as good as any place in the country - http://tersiguels.comPlus tons of great pubs and taprooms. There are many disadvantages to living here. Lack of outstanding eateries isn't one of them.

We have an Omni luxury resort in town, it has spawned a bunch of high $$ trendy small resturants. Everytime a new one has opened I have forcast failure, as we live in a depressed area with few good jobs. Despite my poor business sense, I still say we need good places for normal people. We have a good cheap Italian place, average Chinese, anyplace good is 30+ miles away

I had heard good reports, too.
