Gonna do a rimfire at 70 yards or so, a prairie dog at as far as we can get- probably about 125 and a dangerous game rifle shoot. IF I can rig a moving target we will shoot at a charging target. If not, it will be 2 shots timed at two targets- 50 yards and 20 yards possibly.

Danger game rifle has to be as stated. Bolt or double rifle, minimum of 9.3 caliber, minimum energy is 3530. This is standard velocity for 9.3x62 with 286 bullet. No 45-70s etc.

Still up in the air on if we can make it or not. Depends on my shoulder (separated left as of 11-15), going thru therapy, not happy with it. Collar bone still floats around and HURTS. Just got a shot Monday, hurts worse now, and the Dr. will see me in 2 weeks to decide if I want surgery or not. Surgery will immobilize the arm for 4 weeks, then 6-8 weeks more of therapy. mad They should have fixed it when I wanted them to when it happened.

I still might show up for the day on Saturday, depending on what is happening with Scouts or what the wife has planned for the boys b-day.

Dennis - is that going to be any "rimfire" at about 70 yards, or limited to ??. I'll bring the turkey targets for that if you wish.

It's seems better to have the PD shoot out to about 200 yds. but sounds like that camp location may offer only limited distance - which is fine - gives us old guys with bad eyes a better chance. Would you like me to bring the PD targets? How big is that target frame?

So, the .375 H&H is good for the DG shoot (if a guy can still deal with it)?

No, we are going to have an unlimited PD shoot at whatever distance we can get it to, we will have a 22 rimfire shoot at between 50-70 yards. Probably just limit it to 50 yards.

The dangerous game rifle will hopefully involve a moving target. We will see...

How is the access when it is wet/raining?

Will my poor lead laden low ridin car make it in and out?

Sure do look forward to this get together.

After a few months of no "therapy" the thought of depositing some lead and meeting up with some 'fire friends is a great break from the winter doldrums.

Probably a bit slippery here and there but not difficult for Chevy trucks or Dodge with Cummins. Probably won't make it if 'yer driving a Ford or some Jap thing.

Roads there can get snotty, I've been caught out there in torrential rain and it is hard to move even with 4X4... but it has to have rained a lot.

Kent is on the mark - snotty is a good term for those super wet conditions over there - where almost nothing will grab except a steel track. But, very unlikely we will have such - maybe just a good mudslinger here and there,.

Dang car sits so low it just makes it around the potholes when the road is dry at Tonto, and the load of lead doesn't help.

last year at Quemado had to wait for the road to dry a bit to make it out. Sure would like a 4x4 to be in my future...

Too funny about Rudy...dang dog scared me for a moment last year... <grin>

Paul, last year I needed the change of undies after that dang dog (Ruby) surprised me sick grin grin

the "adventure" with Ruby...

yeah Brian, I'd say if you deleted a couple thousand pounds out of the trunk and rear seat, that might not be a problem...

it is quite impressive how much YOU personally can get inside a Taurus...

Actually - don't fret about the road issue - 95% chance it will be fine and there is plenty of help and know-how in camp.
