Is this thing finally real? Nissan's been threatening to bring this to market for several years. I was hoping they offer the same diesel in the Armada, but last I read that wasn't gonna happen.

300 horse 550 ftlbs torque.

My dealers in St. Louis have already sold and delivered 7 or 8 of them (if not more) in the last week. Platinum editions are around 53k.

Very solid truck and I am looking forward to ordering one in March for my new demo truck.

They told us back in June/July around 22 mpg highway, but I haven't seen any real world numbers yet.

Towing capacity around 13,000 lbs. Not bad for a 1/2 ton plus. Our fiver weighs 12500 dry. I can't wait to put it through its paces.

Some might view these as negatives -

26 gallon fuel tank

2000 pound maximum payload capacity (when properly equipped)

Maximum 2000 pound payload? And Nissan is calling this a truck with capabilities between a 1/2 and 3/4 ton truck? I don't think so.

26 gal. tank is on the small side. I really want them to do an Armada with this engine. I'd buy one in a heart beat!

Group buy?

No way in hell I'd buy a truck rated for 13,000 if my trailer was 12,500 dry. You WILL be overloaded, no doubt about it. If they price it the same as a 3/4 or 1 ton, why not just get the real thing?

Agreed- fill up that trailer with anything, and you will be at 13K# in a heartbeat. Running payloads at max or over is never a good idea, pushing metal to the max is a recipe for failure sooner or later. What a lot of folks fail to take into account is the GVWR- the total combined weight of tow vehicle, payload, passengers, junk, etc., tongue weight of the towed vehicle, and the weight of the towed vehicle itself.

250/2500's and diesels are what towing those kind of loads were made for.

At the very least I'd add air bags but that doesn't help bearings, brakes, overheating, etc.

Not sure about this Cummins engine, but the in-line sixes don't have glow plugs. All they have is an intake heater (grid heater).

Dodge hasn't used glow plugs in it's 5.9 & 6.7 Cummins engines since the late 80's. I don't live in a real cold climate but the grid heater in mine works great at -5.

It still needs time to heat, though, so that doesn't answer the question of how a push button switch will work with the delay. Maybe they have a warming cycle built into the switch.

I'm sure it will just delay the actual start. Press the start button, and I'm sure a message will display on the cluster that it is waiting. I had a Ram Cummins with remote start and it worked the same way.

Both Nissan dealers in my area have these trucks on the lot. I haven't taken the time to look at them up close, but they look OK from a distance.

Most people that buy trucks never pull a load or take them off road. Why that same segment would want a diesel is beyond me, but I'm sure they'll sell plenty of them.

It will have a delay after pushing the start button. Ram does this with their push button and remote start systems.
