What in hell are you talking about? Dog's have never had a better friend. I have Labs and Setters. All loved and spoiled like children when not hunting in the field. Don't ever intimate such equine fecal matter of me again...

I have never killed a dog unless you consider a coyote a dog... Do you? Ever seen a doe taken down and her rear end eaten out and the carcass left to rot? Coyotes... Yes, I kill them. Cat's are death on the bird population and pet cat's hunt to kill, NOT TO EAT, so they will stay nice and safe as long as they stay in their yard. Have ZIP against pet cats. Have kidded about my antagonizing them, however, it is kidding and nothing more. Cat's are funny and completely different from dogs. Make great pets for women...

When they trespass they become a threat to my Quail. I kill every one of those who don't take a high velocity burst of dirt as a hint to go home and stay... 75% are FERAL. They do not get a warning shot. The result of supposed ANIMAL LOVERS feeding wild cats which is ILLEGAL. That said they do so and the cat's wipe out the bird population in many areas... Check with the Audubon Society. The completely wiped out the bird population on Hatteras Island.

I have not read the other posts, I have a Simmons 4x32, 22 Mag scope on my 10-22.
A cheap, budget scope and 4X is just right for this gun.

This is what I mounted on my 455 22lr, awesome scope for the rimfire.

Good for you. I've had an old Remington 581 since 1967 that does the job too.

Nothing wrong with wanting something a little nicer either, if that's your thing. My truck is a 1997 Ford Exploder with over 300K miles. The notion of spending a bunch of money on a new vehicle gives me the vapors. Nice guns, now there's something worth spending a little money on!

I was pointing out that 260Remguys's low dollar rig isn't really all that low dollar comparatively. In fact, most working folks I know around here would consider it fairly spendy for a squirrel rifle.

I've got a Denver made 2-7X Redfield on my 10/22 and it seems to be a match made in heaven!! Powerful enough to make headshots at reasonable distances yet provides enough field of view to spot movement in the leaves.
