With a little work you can get 'em to shoot' That is what a $500 AR will do with GI ammo. Mini's cost $7-800 now. Not worth bothering with, and damn sure not worth spending money on a scope mount for. Never seen an AR do that with ball ammo....

AR's will out shoot Mini's out of the box, no doubt about it.
Aren't the new target Mini's more accurate? I never had one, never shot one, just seems I heard that.

No doubt. Just never seen sub moa ball ammo... or even ball that was 1.5 moa or less RELIABLY per a large sample.

That's not ball ammo on the target pictured. The target was at 50 yards, with 50 grain American Eagle flat base hollow point. It is the most accurate factory ammo in this gun.
The biggest problem with Minis is they are way over gassed, need a trigger job, need bedding, and the older ones need a barrel strut to minimize stringing. They are very fun guns to shoot though and I enjoyed the challenge of getting this one straightened out.

I have a Montana barrel that will do that with PMC 55gr all day long.

55 ball cheap junk FMJ bullets? Shoot the challenge then. I"d like to see that and would then buy a bunch of loaded ammo for sure.
I've got some of the best barrels ever made IMHO, none of them would shoot 1.5 moa with ball bullets ever. Not consistently.

I shot the "challenge" with mine. The best I could do was 2.15". Not bad for a Mini-14 but I thought it would do better.

2 inches was and is not bad at all for a mini.
They are what they are. I love the looks of em but I have the full grown versions in the safe and so never bought a mini.

That's because you put more than 3 shots in a group and don't throw out the "flyers."

LOL, when we shot competition, the SOBs wouldn't even score you unless a minimum of 10 shots... 3, they'd say you missed 7 times. LOL
