It's under warranty. Would take a real dumbazz to rebuild it. crazy

Interesting the timing of the OP. My taxidermist has a 2011 F250 and just had his engine replaced, under warranty, for $19k. 110,000 miles.

How many years/miles is a Ford warranty good for?

Speaking of a Cummins refit I see where Nison is advertising a Cummins Diesel Factory Option on their 2016 P/Us. I don't if it's in a half ton, 3/4 ton or one ton P/U though, but it's an interesting offering.

Remember, to work on the newer ford engines you get to pull the body off, then deal with 10,000 engine parts.

Not counting my chickens yet. But Service Manager says it's all covered. Probably will be talking to her about an extended warranty at this point...
I think you're a little late - usually not available after 24 months of ownership.. But, maybe that's changed.

FWIW, I had 56K on my '11 PSD w/o a single hiccup. But I DID have a 7/75 Ford ESP on that truck when I traded it in this last Dec.. Cancelled the remainder and applied that $650 +/- onto the new one - now have 8/100K full coverage on the '16..

$20K for a new engine? That must include the labor etc., since (IIRC) the engine itself ran about $12-13K...

Thank God you're still under the engine warranty... eek

Um, there's usually a reason for that.. To maintain warranty, the owner usually must keep all records or receipts of timely oil changes and other service.. Doing it at the dealership makes it nearly impossible for Ford (or any manufacturer) to deny coverage..

FWIW, I have the dealer change mine too - for that very reason - but I buy the oil (Mobil-1 diesel synthetic, and I can buy it tons cheaper than what they wanna charge) and just have them do the filter and change..but now it's on their system that it was done on "X" day and with "X" miles. This is even more important once the factory warranty's up and it goes onto the ESP coverage..

15+ years in the car biz taught me a lot about what to expect or avoid re: repair/warranty issues.

Our local dealer has a couple cab/chassis F350's w/duals and they are $41-43k. But that is with a gas engine, diesel will add about $8k to the price.

This. And bring over a couple of those small Toyota turbo-diesel passenger cars that get Prius-like MPG's while you are at it, Lord.

They are the Tacoma Diesel will be in the U.S. in 2018. Not sure on the Tundra.

I wouldn't call driving a Ford lucky.

I know of what I speak.
I've had both Fords and Chevys. The Fords hold up better than the Chevys for me. My experiences have been with Blazers and Explorers though, not trucks, and no heavy hauling. I drive 'em till they die, and I've had two Explorers go to their graves with over 270,000 miles on 'em and no rebuilds. The best I did with the Blazers was about 190,000.

Sean, any rumblings on this?

Unfortunately, no. You can buy one in Mexico, or Canada, or even a crated motor, but no ready to go HiLux in the U.S.

That's too bad. I'll stick with my Chevrolet then. 320K and still going.
