I'd like a spotting scope in the $1,500-ish price point primarily for range use and these two are top contenders. Anybody spend much time between both of these optics?

I spoke with my trusted source at SportOptics and although helpful, they really didn't have much to say regarding optical quality differences. For other differences I noted the Vortex warranty is stronger and they noted the fixed eyepiece on the Meopta vs replaceable on the Vortex.

I've never owned a Razor HD product, but was very pleased for the price on some older Viper binoculars. Warranty was great as well. On the flip side, I understand Meopta glass is similar/same to the old Zeiss Conquest which I have been happily hunting with their rifle scopes for years.

Before making the decision thought I'd ask for feedback. Thanks folks!

At this point the warranty on Vortex is edging out the Meopta.

I have a buddy who has owned a razor for a long time and I just got the Meopta your looking at. Both great at the $1500 price point...Optically I couldnt see any difference. Both are great - but even at this price point with them both on 60x you can see some optical decline.

The razor has the removable eye piece and is made in Japan. The meopta has a permanent eye piece and is made in the USA.

The one time I had to deal with meopata customer service - there were outstanding and the 10x42 meostar HD binos I have are truely world class. That is why I went with the meopta spotter....

...Also, eurooptic has it for $1124 with the coupon code.

I like the Vortex Razor 65 that I have- wonderful and sharp. Is it a Swarovski- no, but it is optically quite good. I can also use my Swarovski 30x (24x on the Razor) wide angle fixed EP on the Razor- and that is an amazing combination for times that I do not need a zoom.

I am not familiar with the Meopro model; but do have experience with the Meostar S2. And the S2 is a model that does not give anything up to the big boys. It hangs real well, if not beats the Swaro 80 HD- IMO.
