I still have one daughter going to school (Peshtigo High School). Does your sister-in-law teach there or the elementary school?

Ya, we could go for a pasty-with (with rutabegas, that is)and a bunch of beers. You do know that them trolls is jealous of us Yoopers, hey?

I picked up a set of Lee .300 dies a few months ago and plan to load up a few 180 grainers just for old times sake. I think I'll stick with the 150's for deer hunting though. So far all I've handloaded for the .300 are some plinking loads using a .22 long rifle case full of Red Dot and a single O buckshot, lubed with liquid Alox.

Have killed many whitetails with 180s from various 30-06s. IMO 180 grains is THE 30 caliber bullet. I would think the good Rem Cor-Lokt RN would be about perfect in the 300 out to 200 yards or more. If I had a 30 caliber rifle that did not shoot 180 grain bullets well, I would sell it. Have not tried them in my Kimber 308 yet. If it doesn't shoot them well it's going down the road, pretty or not. Pretty is as pretty does. Tried 165s in the Kimber this year and in 30-06 in previous years. They are just not as good as a good 180 IMO. Don't like 150s either.

I'm not sure what grade she's teaching now. She taught kindergarten for years but this year she was switched to a higher grade. She's a yooper now to. Drives across the border to go to work each day. Uffda!

I like the 150s better than the 180s for deer. Got a few hundred rounds of the 150 Silvertips and several hundred 150 Silvertip bullets to load up if/when I run out of factory ammo.

I spent a couple days in the porcupine mountains this past fall. Visited Lake in the Clouds - very pretty country out there. My first time through there. I generally load 150 grain bullets for .30 calibers with less velocity than .30/06. Seems a lot of 180 grain bullets need to be driven to .30/06 velocities to expand reliably. I can't say I know this to be true of the 180 grain silvertips and it sounds like plenty of guys around here have had good field experiences with them.
