I guess the question is, Are they any good? They seem to be quite a bit cheaper than most others. I had a Ruger with one on it and it seemed OK, but I only had the gun a short time.

tzone-IMO for an occaisional use tube you would certainly do allright with it.
For a serious use it a lot shoot it a lot looking for good life and excellent accuracy you could do better.
IMO another good option would be to take a close look at Pac-Nor. A lot of sharp riflemen on this site use PN and seem to think the world of them.

Mark,
Thanks, I guess I don't shoot a really all that much. About a hundred rounds a year per gun. I was just curious. Seems like a good price if they shoot

Although PacNor is better, if it is price you are after, I'd prefer a Douglas. (Although Mark doesn't like them!) http://www.itdcustomgun.com/

Over the years, I've gotten good results consistently with their barrels. Bought my first one in 1960, and currently have three rifles with Douglas barrels. All three shoot 3/8" groups, or less, for 3 shots at 100 yards. My 22-250 shoots 3 into 1/4" at 100 yards; it has a Douglas barrel. I don't know that Pac-Nor barrels are better than those Douglas makes. Mickey Coleman and Mel Forbes both use Douglas barrels. A couple of years ago, Bob Collins, down in Georga, won the Alabama State Championship using a Douglas Barrel, in 22 RF competition against some of the far more expensive barrels, and against some of the very best shooters on the circuit. I owned a Ruger M77 some years back with a Shaw barrel. It was accurate as I needed it to be. Since then, I have had my Gunsmith use Shilen barrels for the three rifles he built for me.

I have tried 6 E.R. Shaw barrels since they retooled a few years ago, the range in chamberings from .22 LR (for a Ruger 10/22) up to .30-06. Only one was not VERY accurate, but they have an absolute satisfaction-guaranteed replacement policy.
Several other people have asked me about Shaw barrels privately, and I tell them them same thing. Most of those have gotten Shaw barrels and been very happy.
Most of the Shaw barrels I've tried have been installed by them, and I have been very pleased. Come to think of it, the one barrel that DIDN'T shoot was not installed by Shaw....
I have also been very pleased with the other work I've had them do while rebarreled, especially their matte blueing.

My two Bobs have Shaw barrels. The 'chuck gun with 26" #3 contour barrel will put 5shots in a ragged hole if I can hold still long enough to do it, which I have several times. The 23" #2 1/2 contour barrelled deer rifle will hold .4" 3 shot groups all day with it's preferred load. and just got my .375 H&H done. Looking forward to see how well it does. Those woodchucks will charge if they're wounded.

After reading one of John's posts about Shaw I tried one and was very pleased. The rifle shoots well and cleans up easy.

I have one barrel which they installed on the action; I'm quite happy with it, and think they are a good value. My only knock against them is I'm put off by their, and others, limitations on twist rates. That's why my current project is going to Pac-Nor (and costing me more $$).

I have 2 of them, soon to be 3 (22-250, 338-06, 35 whelen). I have had no problems and very pleased. A 22-250 was prairie dog accurate with every load I tried.

MD,
Thanks. From the other posts, it appears the general public seems to like them also.

It turns out I may have been wrong about their replacement guarantee. I know they used to offer it, but apparently do not anymore. This is a little strange, since the "new generation" Shaw barrels are much better!

Mule Deer - thanks for the follow up on that issue. Hopefully it won't come into play for anyone (me included) but it's good to know.

I have one and have no complaints. I sent them my beat up old barreled action. I had them beadblast it and reblue it, while they installed the barrel, and it came back like new.

I own a Shaw in .257 Bob and friends have ones in .280 and 7X57. All three will shoot sub MOA with the right loads (more than one BTW). I have come to the conclusion that if you're looking for a hunting rifle, you're spending money you don't have to if you buy any of the more expensive barrels. Also, in my experience Shaw has excellent customer service.
Only a fool would sell an accurate .30-06
