The originator of this thread was interested in the reliability of the OM. Not a Commander, not a Glock and not a S&W. Bob Wills mentioned that he didn't like to carry the OM. Since it's one of the weapons I routinely carry, I thought I'd weigh in, on the OM.
I can, have and will carry the Model 29 if I have to, but it wouldn't be my first choice. I have carried a Gold Cup. In OSI I carried a pistol that was the Officer's frame with the Commander's slide. Carried it a lot of years. Never was bothered by the weight or the bulk.
But still, I'm having difficulty seeing where you drew your conclusion? Not that it matters. Your reply to Bob seemed heavy with sarcasm, but perhaps I am mistaken. Your reply to me, seemed to be as well. I'm wondering why?
I've been carrying concealed off duty and after retiring since 1976. Weight has never been a problem. Sometimes, I carry a little J-Frame without an extra load. Heaven's no!

I carried one for years as both an off duty gun, and an on duty BUG, when my primary was a 70 series Colt 1911. Mine has had a good bit of work done to it, and has proven to be quite reliable. I have had mine 25 years. Knowing what I know now, and if still going with a 1911 platform, I would rock a Colt Lightweight Commander. Size comparison to G19:

Thanks. It has served me well and has a bit of history, to include facing down a nut job with a broad sword. I never would have predicted that one.
