Yup agreed. My dealings with NHC was perfect in every way. Their customer service is fantastic these days and they build one of the finest 1911s on the market.

I have been present when several 1911s have been fired with a squib in the barrel and the damage to the gun was nothing like this. One of my friends did it during an IPSC shoot... Blew out the magazine, bulged the barrel and bent the dust cover. His gunsmith straightened out the dust cover, put in a new barrel and the gun was ready to go at the next months match...

Bob
Certainly not your typical kB! that you see in a 1911, but the damage shown is to my mind consistent with a barrel obstruction; just not your most typical.

Yeah most look pretty much exactly how you describe. I think the reason it didn't happen the way you describe is the barrel bulged and locked the slide to the barrel, so the brass wasn't given the opportunity to fail; which is where you get the blown out magazine and bulged grip frame.

I always am thankful when a person escapes injury in a situation like that.
I do wonder about the ammunition though. Convenient that the cartridge case can't be found, so there is no assurance that the round was indeed a factory product.

Armscor has a history of customer complaints of failures to fire, failures to eject, and squibs. Not a premium ammo, but inexpensive ammo purchased on the cheap that has its inherent flaws from its low cost production.
