NH K9 had a rutted up meese bull within bayonet range last fall, and somewhere's nearby was a meese cow in heat, and her last year's calf. He (NH K9) was not amused in the pre-dawn, to say the least.

Very good question. I actually did go backpacking this weekend in black bear country - 5 miles in and 5 miles out. Total pack weight with food and 2 liters of water was 31 pounds. I carried a G43 9mm with 1 spare mag and survived. grin
