Without some capitalism, if things were banned there would be zero supply almost immediately. I personally have seen [bleep] making money on peoples misery and [bleep] venusuala. The recent scum standing outside of sporting goods stores at 7:58AM to rush in and buy all the 22LR's then resell them for double the price is a perfect example.
