I ended up buying the same Altamonts in "super walnut". Just put them on last night and I think I am going to really like them.

I've got 4 sets of Ahrends grips and am extremely happy with them. The one on my S&W Model 25 .45 Colt is a set of walnut Retro Targets (see link) Ahrends Retro Grips. I order my grips unfinished from Kim and apply a tung oil finish to them myself. Several years ago I sent Kim a piece of Ebony and he made a set of K/L frame Retro Targets that now reside on my no dash Model 686. The contrast between the Ebony and stainless steel is simply awesome.
