Back in 2007 I used to get a couple of calls a day from Dun and Bradstreet to the shop phone. It lasted about 6 months. After the crash of 2008 the calls stopped. Imagine that! We were just barely keeping the doors open.

This past week I started getting those calls again. Hang on to your hats boys. Here we go again!

in outher words, how should we plan to separate the sheep from their money this time around?

The question you should ask yourself is, how does the feds fight the next recession when the interest rate is already at .5% and we already have 19 trillion in federal debt. We all know it's coming, and probably soonish.

It's got to happen, sooner or later... you cant keep on printing worthless money, increasing the national debt, etc., without repercussions. osamie is going to make sure he is out of office and leave the mess to the next president.

"What depression???"

When an economy has collapsed, good luck with your gold and silver. You'll get pennies on the dollar to get food and critical provisions. You're better off saving that money you'd spend on gold, and pre-buy the things that people will NEED, not what they'd want. NEEDED goods will be the new currency, not gold.

Well, yeah. And toilet paper, soap, toothpaste, common medications, bandages, antibiotics, bleach, ...

There has been some very interesting commentary from a person who survived the destruction of Bosnia. The area truly was set back to the stone age. Furniture and household trim went to keeping warm and common necessities so widely available that we don't even think about them became impossible to find.

Also, I've read an interesting book on investing in common goods as a hedge against inflation. If you know that disastrous inflation is in the offing, a huge stash of things you are going to use anyway is a great investment. Buy your paper towels, laundry detergent, all the things listed above, etc. with pre-inflationary dollars and you will be cushioned against a lot of the repercussions of a collapsing dollar.

Build a Mormon-style canned food rack and fill it. Make it like those beer and pop can racks for the refrigerator that fill at the top and dispense from the bottom. Make them so they hold a couple of cases of cans in each station and fill them up with soup, beans, vegetables, etc. Keep using that as your day to day food, vending from the bottom and refilling from the top and you will have a great cushion against a number of bad outcomes while easily keeping your stockpile rotated for freshness.

Isn't Glenn Beck selling all of that in one 5-gallon bucket??

There was a crash that turned into a correction after Ronald Reagan was inaugurated and the same thing will happen after Mr. Trump is inaugurated. Plan for it. I keep buying bullets, powder, primers and canned good. I'm somewhat ready. I need to stock up on toilet paper and bleach yet. Baby wipes might be a real plus.
