I have a strong urge, reasonably flexible budget, and window of time this summer (mid-May--mid-August) to hunt something, somewhere. of course summer is not prime hunting season but there are some options: bear in some places, plains game in Africa, maybe some game in Alaska/Canada in August. Argentina? New Zealand?
i've hunted mostly whitetails for 40 years, but also shot a moose and a black bear in Alaska. I've traveled internationally a lot but not to hunt.
wide open to suggestions. too late to book anything in Africa? prefer big game but might consider upland birds.
inviting ideas...

If I had deeper pockets, (and maybe better legs) I'd go to Argentina or NZ for red deer and birds or boars (or pigs, as the case may be).

Africa still offers the best bang for the buck. Namibia is the place, check out Frontier safaris for good prices.

I would go to Africa, there are always cancellation hunts coming available in some great places. Email a favorite outfitter or hunting consultant and see what's up...jim

Good year to go to Africa. Lots of hunts available. Go to AfricaHunting.com and look at their deals and offers. Also look at Accurate Reloading. Go to forums and then offered and discounted hunts. Hunts available from $3800 and up. Some really good deals out there right now. Bruce

Never been to Africa but know a friend who has gone around 12 times. He highly recommends it over everything else. I asked him the same question but without a date constraint.

Argentina for doves, pigeons, and can also do duck with generous limits. Beautiful country, great beef and wine, and enough Germans to brew a good beer. Best of all, dirt cheap!

Get a bunch if buddies, go on a hog hunt. Get some hog meat, have a sausage making party when you get home.
