I figger I break even on my Prime fee in about 3 months on average. Plus, I get to watch Bosch and Vikings at no extra cost!
I also buy a lot of clothes from Amazon. On the rare occasion when something doesn't fit or has a defect, the UPS man takes it back the next day, almost always for free. The nearest place to buy decent clothes is at least 25 miles away, and I don't know of any place less than 45 miles away that carries the stuff I tend to buy now. The amount of money, gas, and time Amazon saves me is staggering. Yep - I got prime when I bought my house. Kinda figured I'd let it expire but I love it. Kept it. It's incredibly easy to find what you want and have it quick. Was in town at Barnes and Noble. Found 2 brewing books I wanted. Checked it out on Prime - saved 18 dollars on the books and was shipped to my door.

I buy other stuff locally, like the powder and boolits I picked up yesterday; also fresh fruit. There's a little feed store nearby in Berryville, VA where I buy my black oil seed and both shelled corn and ear corn for my bird feeding. Their price on the oil seed matches or beats Whatamart's and the ear corn runs about $10 for 50lbs, about a fifth or less of what Whatamart wants. I put up new supports for my blackberries and gourds and luffas. The heavy steel T-posts cost maybe 2/3 of what the big- ox hardware guys wanted.
What fresh Hell is this?

At least my wife can go to the restroom at Wallyworld (not that she wants to) without some dude following her in there. Not so at Target.

Their social engineering aside, I seldom found anything at Target worth the 20-minute drive. To my eye, a Target looks pretty much like a K-Mart, only a bit cleaner. Their kinda-sorta anti-gun policy (we want your money so we won't forbid them, but don't really want you to them carry them in our store) is a another big reason to stay away for me.
What fresh Hell is this?

I don't understand why anyone would blame WM for the actions of their customers....it's not like they actually encourage people to shoplift at their stores or provide a discount card for convicted felons and parolee's......
I think this is as much about the burden WalMart has become to the local police for not attempting to do more to curtail shoplifting and attract crime as it is the actual crime itself.

Most of our serious grocery shopping is at Costco. Amazon is for most of the other stuff, except milk, bread, beer, and eggs, which I get at a local grocery. Don't burn much gas these days.
Walmart is for special occasions, like when I want to waste a couple hours being annoyed and amused by the local "gentry". That's like the lady who was going to Grocery Outlet to shop. She said "I like Grocery Outlet because I don't have to get all dressed up like when I go to Walmart." By "dressed up' it's possible she was talking body armor.
