Sam, as always, the pics are great.

I have an aunt and uncle that farmed cotton all their lives and what you said reminded me of an what my aunt said one time...

We make about the same money every year, whether the crops are good or bad. In bad years, the price goes up, and there just isn't much cotton. In good years, the price goes down and everyone has plenty of cotton.

Beautiful, Sam - just beautiful.. Fabulous-lookin' fields of golden grain.

Those new combines looks just mammoth up close - but put 'em in the wheat fields of central South Dakota and they look like a couple ants in a desert.. Some LONG, LONG days in the cabs to harvest those fields..

Crops here are going to be primo as well. Chopping starts in about 7-9 days..

God pictures Sam, and Farmers always want a good crop no matter the price. Makes them feel better about their chosen career, as it should. My Kin here are starting to cut rice, and had already started corn when that long rainy bunch of days hit. Set them back a couple of weeks and I am sure did nothing for crop quality. miles

Miles, I rode over to the bottom the other day and nobody has cut their corn. First they planted late because of the rain and now, like you said, the rain has delayed the cutting. Usually it's cut by now.

Made me thirsty.

Beautiful pictures. Almost everybody around here has gone to corn due to ethanol bumping the price up, but still see wheat. With the plentiful rain this year, it's definitely going to be bumper crops.

Great pics! In a few instances where I've traversed the country via the highways, I've always been amazed at how rapid and efficient our wheat harvests are. Go one way and it's standing. Come back two weeks later and it's all gone.

Bet our government could never pull something like that off.

Possibly you'd like things better if our farmers were treated akin to the way Stalin treated the Kulaks! It's OK though....as I'm betting you're bitchin on a full stomach!!

Great Pics Sam! Our harvest for wheat was over 6 weeks ago. It's not a big part of what we do....we rotate enough acres to allow for some clover seeding for compaction...and to put in some drain tile where needed. We grow Winter Red.....it was affected by the dry weather and heat but we still pulled an 85 average.

Our cucumber crop was a real bust because of the Hot/Dry....hoping for better with the corn, beans and beets.
