I just ate some deer steaks I vacuum sealed in 2013 and they didn't have any sign at all of freezer burn.
Thicker bags are important, as well as the suction power of the unit.
I use a cabelas commercial grade (metal one) sealer.
All good

A buddy uses this one and says there is no better. I found some redfish filets he gave me a couple of years ago (got pushed to the back of my freezer and forgotten). They looked, felt and tasted like the day day they came out of the water. http://www.homebutcher.com/meat-packaging-vacuum/vacmaster-vp215 Good luck .. BP... Thanks for the heads's up on this. I just ordered one and look forward to trying it out. Please give us periodic updates on how you like it. So I've had the VacMaster 215 for a few weeks now and have butchered an elk and a mule deer. I am loving this unit! It kicks ass and I'm pretty impressed with the bags you can buy from Vacmaster as well. This is one sucking mofo and it seals great. I would recommend it for sure if you're looking for a good vac unit. I can't think of anyone that's bought one that said, "Man why did I spend all that money." The consensus is, "Man, why did I wait so long to buy one?"

I just got my VacMaster 215 in the mail today. What a beast! My boss had to lug it up to my house from the dock, complained a little bit. Haha! I can't wait to put it to use.
