This is one area where the govt isn't completely screwed up. The Wild Horse and Burrow Act completely protects these damn things. ANY attempt by the BLM or FS to manage them (even court ordered) is instantly blocked by litigation. The BLM is sued by both "sides"...for managing and NOT managing them. The BLM would LOVE to hand management over to the states, like other wildlife and allow better managment.

The horse advocates are straight up nuts. You think the wolf lovers are crazy? Talk to an average wild horse lover. Ho-Lee-$hit are they delusional.

I believe that horses eat appx. 3% of their body weight per day, as compared to cattle eating appx. 2%, so assuming this is true they do have more of an effect than cattle. I've actually seen some pretty good saddle horses come out of Wyoming's herds, but I suspect those were fairly new lineages of released ranch horses. Generally though, they're pretty untrainable.

The very same government that protects these horses, is the same one that pays women to kill their own children.

That makes sense to whom......
