I have been discarding "used up" .308 brass a lot lately. Both match brass and hunting brass.

Was in Gander Mt. today to pick up some 4064 and 4350. Saw said brass on the shelf with a whole lot more Top Brass in common rifle and pistol chamberings. I figured I would give it a whirl being it was only $17.99/50 and already prepped and "ready to load". Figured I would hit the case mouths real quick, chamfer, and load up some hunting rounds with some non-premium grade bullets I need to use up.

It is once fired and reconditioned Lake City brass. I didn't know it at the time, but mixed headstamps of LC. FL sized, trimmed, primer pockets reamed, cleaned.

Case mouths looked very good. Nothing visibly out of round or dented. Primer pockets were reasonably clean but not great. It was clean looking overall, inside and out, with good looking case heads. A couple had dented rims, but nothing too major.

I must admit, I bought the stuff mainly because it was prepped, and I am behind in my loading. Have brass all over the place in various stages of prep waiting to be loaded. Have loaded a lot of rounds last couple weeks.

Anyway, Now that I have made a short story long, bottom line is that the stuff was so non-concentric that I just now returned it. I had seen enough and did not want to mess with it any further. A sample of 7-8 on the concentricity guage showed readings from .007-.0115 out. Wtf? So much for trying to save a little time.

I figured I would share this just so others don't bother wasting their time with this stuff. I have seen it in several other stores also. Maybe I just got a bad batch? Anyone have anything good to say about the stuff? This is actually the first time I have ever purchased "reconditioned and prepped once fired brass", and probably the last........

Forgot to add that I have used some other Top Brass in 45 Colt. It was new and has Top Brass headstamp and it seems like good stuff. About on par with Starline......
