+1 on that. Hornady XTP'S have always done well for me, in 240/250gr. Don't have to worry about pushing them too fast, either. Very good performance.

Mine shoots 240xtp accurately, but I find they are borderline too frangible, even on deer.

Well, I don't go over 100gr of loose T7. Suppose I spoke too soon. I have not seen one come apart with that load. Many, many deer, too. If I can get them to shoot in my 1:48 barrel, I prefer 300's for penetration. They will not stabilize in all of my 1:48 barrels.

My lowly little 24" barreled T/C White Mountain Carbine flintlock puts 250-grn Maxis and patched roundballs into the same group out to 35 to 40-yards.

All of my MZL'drs will shoot into ONE ragged hole ALL day long ... it's just those darn 2nd & 3rd+ shots that tend to open up my groups!

Try the T/C "Cheap Shot" 240 grain solid lead HP sabots. Inexpensive, and I've seen them shoot well and kill very well out of several rifles.

No offense, but at that range damned near anything ought to group that well.

My go to load in a Knight inline with 100 grains ffg. Killed several deer with it and never had the problems that you speak of?

Try 80-90 grains.

Last couple of those that got caught in deer weighed better than 210 grains and mushroomed like a magazine ad.
