Got this mount back towards the end of 2014, but did not have a good spot to display it. For a time it has hung in the garage, laundry/mud room and most recently a utility closet. Due to a recent house remodel, it now has a prominent spot.

Awesome buck! Great looking mount also. I usually just staple the tag to the back of the mount for safe keeping.

Nice.

Why keep the tag (assuming that is what the green thing is) attached? Just curious.

I bagged this deer in a deer drive, the last one of the day, just about 1/2 hr before shooting hours ended. There was 7 or 8 deer ahead of us drivers, three doe and a buck were shot by the standers and this deer tried to sneak thru the drivers, but moved across in front of the right side of the drive. I was the flanker and he did not see me until it was too late.

A .257 87 grain Speer HotCor thru both lungs hitting the off shoulder out of my Savage 99-A rolled him into a ditch out of sight. I was ready for him if he exited, but I counted off 45 paces to him, saw he was dead and continued the drive.

I don't have any hero pics of him, but I believe I got a picture of him and the other buck loaded in a pickup box. Will look for it and post.

It is a tag and I don't normally leave one attached, but it has sentimental value. The guy that assisted in gutting and dragging the deer out of the woods died three months later of prostrate cancer. He and I hunted together for several years.

That is a very nice, wide buck. IMO it is very unusual to catch up to a big buck via deer driving. They know how to slip those things, and congrats for outfoxing the fox!
