there was a DDOS attack on Dyn which is a company that provides DNS services to LOTS of companies. basically it prevented computers from being able to match internet names to ip addresses which is key to doing anything.
my colleagues and i discussed this today and all agreed that this is some kind of precursor to trouble to come. and we are all seasoned IT professionals and don't wear tinfoil hats.
My diploma is a DD214

this one was hard to drill down on at first. we started troubleshooting it as a internal problem. it would come and go. i had it figured out about the time it was announced publicly and breathed a major sigh of relief. as an IT guy, i love it when its someone else's problem and i get to go home. its usually my fuggen problem and everyone else gets to go home until i fix it though.

Didn't the idiot in chief just recently say that he was directing our NSA types to prepare an electronic retaliation for Russia? (Really good strategic move, announcing it publicly!)
I suspect this was a reply in the form of "You mean something like this? Azzhat!".
