Some years ago my parents were in Mexico and they brought me a beautiful hand made belt. However, the leather had evidently been tanned in horse piss. Every time it got even a little bit damp, the smell would be terrible.

Leather was definitely not tanned correctly.

That's an understatement. grin I finally tossed it. It would start smelling just when wearing it on a hot day and it got a little sweaty.
