Ain't quite 180 grains.... My bad... I ran the numbers at 180 grains.... you want me to run them again at 195? That'll just up the ass-whooping.... You should quit while you're behind... When the .270 grows up... it wants to be a 7 Rem Mag....

And there's always hope you'll be able to wash that stench of jealousy off.... 7mm envy is a stinky cologne... Now don't be harsh with 16 Bore....he likes the 270. Me...Im fully aware of the advantages of the 7mm magnums over the 270,having owned more than a double handful of both and hunted them both pretty hard. But I still use a 270 and would not be concerned about taking one anywhere. I never took anything smaller than 277 seriously because the lightest Bitterroot you could buy 270-130.... I have never had a problem hitting or killing with either one. Besides you guys keep forgetting that a 270 is just a 7mm with a slower twist....

Dogshitter ain't much into comprehension. Just this morning I heard my 270 and 7RM screaming "Taste great" "Less filling"
Only a handful will get that one.....

one of us can easily comprehend the advantages of a 7mm over the .270.... the other is still studying the back of a Lucky Charms box trying to find that silly little leprechaun.
Kinda funny that in ALL the games where hitting schitt is the thing that matters.... NOBODY shoots a .270.... EVER. Could it be that the .270 doesn't offer ANYTHING advantageous over the calibers slightly above (7mm) and slightly below (6.5mm) it?
Guy showed up at the SRM with a .270 once.... he shot a 2 outta 60.... pretty sure it's the worst score ever recorded. Coincidence..... maybe....
But hey.... if you forget your .270 ammo on a hunt in BFE... you'll be able to pick up a box anywhere.... so you got that going for you. Though the 7 Rem Mag is probably available at the BFE General Store too...

270wsm. Plenty of power for deer. Easier to shoot better/practice more in a lightweight rifle as it has less recoil.

Sounds to me like the answer is to get the 270, 270 WSM, 7mm RM and call it a day.
Exquisitely turdlike in all of his many manifestations!!

Fotis, The performance of these two on deer is so close, you can call it equal. Since they are equal you are only talking about rifle weight and handiness.
So do you want a 7 1/2 lb rifle, or a 6 1/2 lb rifle that is slightly shorter and kicks a little bit quicker?

Deer and the .243 go together like peas and carrots, even our big northern deer...

For me it would boil down to which rifle I like since there will be no difference in how they each kill deer.
I can't think of a single rifle chambered for 270 WSM that I'd like to have.
The 280 Remington is overbore.
The 7 Rem Mag is over bore.

I have three 7RMs and two 270WSMs currently. There's not much difference in performance on game between the two IMO. Speeds are pretty close, so really no advantage to one over the other when it comes to hunting variety bullets. The only thing I'd suggest is brass availability. New (factory ammo) & fired from friends or the range. I'd pick the rifle I like best and stock up on components. Jerry

7mag. Way easier to find ammo and brass. Performance difference between the 2 isn't even worth debate.
