Somebody started a Winchester "kill" page last year but I haven't seen one this year yet so I'll revive it. Killed this 150 lb 8 point this morning, Model 70 Lightweight Synthetic Carbine 7mm-08 with some 20+ year old Remington Extended Range 154 gr. I haven't hunted with this gun much, preferring more "exotic" chamberings, but it is perfect for hunting in a climber, like this morning. He was facing me at about 130 yards while standing in tall dog fennel, and all I could see was from his neck up. I put it on the white patch on his throat and he was DRT.

We all know it, but it deserves mentioning. Damn few will equal that Elk hunt. Looks like it also shoots where you point it.

Congrats to all those Winchester users! Nice critters here. Well don on that elk Handwerk! Can't wait to see more. I would like that old 95 to connect with a nilgai when we go to the south Texas ranch in several weeks. But I know it will probably be just like last year. I'll be too busy quail hunting! Walked up on a really nice bull last year doing just that! LOL. Quail are easier to carry!

Nothing special this year. Cow was taken with 300 Win mag in Brown Pounder stock. First time I've ever used factory ammo on elk (the 7WSM was going to be my primary gun but the trigger sear broke two days before season). Hornady Super Perfermance 165 GMX round did the trick well. [img:left] [/img] Doe was taken with 7 WSM in McMillan super grade stock. Load was 120 TTSX with 71gr. of reloader 22. Shot was a little over 250 yards. First Antelope hunt for me. They are pretty small animals but fun to hunt. [img:left] [/img]

Just a wild azzed guess... Those cast (or as they call it now: "MIM") parts pizz me off!!!

Son connected on this one yesterday morning. He's a "One Rifle Man"... Stainless Classic in .270 Win. Rolls his own loads IMR 4350 / 130 TTSX. He missed a good buck during muzzle loader season. Doesn't play video games, doesn't watch TV. He's an outdoor junkie. I love this kid!

Looks like a lot of guys are filling their freezers this year...

Gunnut that's a nice buck!
BSA, it is a later NH rifle. Can't remember if I bought it in 2004 or 2005, it's mostly sat in the safe BC the trigger sucks! If it didn't shoot so well I would of sold it long ago. Now that it's in a nice stock I'm gonna get a new trigger. My dad got it working again but it's unsafe unless it's set at 7+ lbs.
