I have a Dan Wesson 41 mag. Got it a couple of Months ago, I do Like it! but can get a Colt delta Elite 10MM, Digging the 41, but its so Big, Kicking the 10MM around what you fellows think?

I like a 10mm , mine are Glocks a 20, 29 and 40 . Kinda comes down to personal preference between revolver or semi. I like both but for different reasons.

What are you going to do with it?

The two cartridges are far from synonymous. It is easy to load the 41 down to 10mm levels, or even match the 40 S&W for that matter.

But it is impossible to load the 10 to match the capabilities of the 41.

Having never owned a 41 or a 10mm, I'll play!

Keep the 41. Outside you'll get tired of tracking down your 10mm brass every time you pull the trigger. I don't know what you plan to shoot, but when does the ammo capacity of the 10mm trump the punch of the 41? (Except as a self-defense gun, of course).

Plus, when you get your gun out of the safe when the guys are over, the Dan Wesson 41 mag will get you more cool points than the Delta.

Keep the 41. If you want a "big auto" just get a 1911 (or Glock) in .45 ACP.

I have both...several of both as a matter of fact...and as was said above each has their place depending on what you plan for it...

The DW is probably the largest double action .41 out there and was meant as a target/hunting gun...not real convenient for carry let a lone concealed... In both factory ammo and handloads one can go a lot further up the power scale than the 10mm, especially if one reloads.

...so the fist question is what are you going to use it for...second question is ...do you reload?

I like the Delta but...

The Delta is not the best platorm for full power 10mm loads, nor is it a small, lightweight package.

A Glock 20 is all of that, or...

For something even more packable I would lean toward a Glock 23.

Very practical but you may not like plastic.

Troutnut: How do you like the Glock 40, do you have optics on it? I have a 29 for hiking but was thinking a 40 for hunting.


To the OP, kinda depends what you want to do with it. That Dan Wesson would make a dandy hunting handgun. If you're just plinking 45's are cheaper to shoot. I ran a Delta for a while and have a S&W 57, still have the 57. If you can get the Delta for a fair price go for it. They are worth a pretty penny these days.

I did own a Delta back when the 1st came out, but the ammo was hot, and hard to get then I do like the 41, hard choise would like to have both, but im low on funds these days, I do own a Detnics 45 that I shoot & carry! and Both have the Cool Factor!

For hunting the 10mm is fine but the 41 mag out classes it by a long shot when it comes to raw power

I have them both, a glock 20, 14 rounds, and the 41revolvers.
a 10mm will never be a 41magnum, but they do overlap to some extent.
if you reload however, in the 41 you can go from say 170grain projectiles, to 300grains, the 10mm isn't quite so wide ranging.
In the 41 you can download it, or up it where a 10mm can't go.

I like the G 40 so far , haven't shot it much yet though . Recently mounted a Burris ff3 just haven't shot it like that yet.

10mm will never be a 41 mag but if you load yourself or buy Underwood or Buffalo bore ammo it's pretty close out of the longer barrels . Most ammo companies load it down to nearly .40 S&W levels .

The DW is too good of a gun to get rid of. But if the Delta is priced right,I'd get it.

Nothing wrong with having both. Two differ uses. The Colt will never depreciate. The Delta is one bad ass packer for the woods. I wear mine all day long on the farm.

When I feel like a wheel gun, I take the 41 mag. When I feel like a semi-auto, I grab my Delta Elite. If you can't afford both, flip a coin, take the 41 mag and start saving for the Delta. Worked for me anyway.

I have a Glock 20 and, ummmm some S&W .41 mags. While the Glock is a solid, pretty accurate long range affair as far as auto pistols go, the 10 mm is not and never will be a .41 magnum. That said, I am lusting after that new Remington 10mm 1911.

I have the same Remington 10mm long slide Hunter but mine is stamped PARA-USA...excellent gun for the money...

Never have been able to convince myself that I need a 10mm.............for anything.

But I rue the day that I let my S&W M-57 go; I'd keep the DW if you want it to hunt with & pick up a 4" or 6" M-57, depending on your needs.

The 41 is an extremely flexible round & is easy to load for & shoot.

Try finding a really nice 57 for a good price these days. Tain't easy. Love 'em, though.

That's a fact...........& is why I'm still kicking myself for selling the one I had. It was a no-dash edition & smooth as silk after a little TLC.

I've been starting to warm up to the idea of a 10mm more and more. There are times when I just don't want to pack a big bore revolver so I carry a 357 stoked with 200's clocking ~1200 fps. Seems a Glock 20 with 15 220's doing 1200 fps would be more better.
