Thanks szihn. That's an honest appraisal of your experiences, with no extra BS.

A most excellent post, Sz!

Have shot the 150 gr S2 in my 7 Wby with repeatable results on Axis since 1998. I like it a lot. Had been running RL 22 but quit about 6 years ago. But I will soon replace that powder with RL 23 or 26 & get back to using my 7 Wby..

Very well thought out and articulated post - a rarity on the 'Fire. Thank you for taking the time to post.
BTW: agree 100% on your opinion about bullet business models. I've tried Cast Performance cast bullets and frankly don't use them because of the price. Alternatives exist that do very similar things - and cost less.

I found szihn's comments about not recovering many Frames interesting in view of how much they expand.
He seems to be a Partition fan and has discovered (as many have over the years) that you can substitute your Sierra's or Speers of equal weight as a practice bullet without changing your sight setting for your Partition load. This really becomes significant from a cost/convenience standpoint and I've been doing the same thing for years.
My Swift Aframes mostly sit around because I have Bitterroots but I call shooting them to 400 yards with a M70 Classic FW and they hit the same POI as my Partitions. Not sur how true that is across the board.
In any event he is right; when it comes hunting bullets it's pretty tough to beat a Partition.

It was a great post. The only things I'd disagree on is the notion that "regular" bullets like the Sierra GK and Hornady IL don't closely replicate the flight characteristics of mono bullets like the TTSX, out to about 500 yards or so. Mono's may be longer, but they are also less dense and often have relief grooves to reduce drag, friction, and fouling in the bore, and those two factors reduce the bullet's BC, bringing it on par with the standard bullets mentioned previously.
Swift bullets are different, and have a BC value that is enough lower than the GK/IL/TTSX, that you'd notice the difference in external ballistics, even on the near side of 400-500 yards.
